About the Artist
Steve Metro is a retired engineer/ life-long woodworker/ wood artist who draws inspiration from ture, planet, and practicality. He uses saws, routers, grinders, chisels, and lots of sandpaper to transform wood into practical art pieces for unique gifts or something that you will treasure for a lifetime. He is a River Forest resident, member of the Forest Park Arts Alliance, and participates in many area art shows. Works include wall art, wood sculptures, cutting and charcuterie boards, beer and whiskey flights, framed mirrors, vases from logs, puzzles, pen and business card holders, earring racks, wall shelves, etc. Items are made from a variety of woods including oak, walnut, cherry, poplar, spalted maple, zebrawood, leopardwood, olivewood, etc— but using reclaimed material is a favorite.
