About: Art Bio
I am a self-taught artist from the Chicago area with an additional professional background in health and anthropology. My anthropological roots fuel my belief that every human being is inherently driven to create — whether it’s family and household, relationships, business ventures, the built environment, tools, inventions, scientific research, or traditional arts like music, drawing, painting, writing, storytelling, and poetry. This ever-growing fascination with the creative drive propels me to craft thought-provoking, nostalgic, and enriching artwork.
Art Statement
Much of my art can be described as an evocative classic-style and impressionistic impasto portraits, including people, homes, pets, subject-based abstracts, and surreal works using a diverse palette of media: oil paint, acrylics, inks, and dyes. I also enjoy collaborating closely with clients to produce one-of-a-kind commissions. This collaborative spirit shines through in projects like my pieces for Twist Out Cancer’s Brushes with Cancer program, in which the inspiration comes from those touched by cancer.
I also have a few series of works based on particular life experiences. One series titled Painted Molecules – A Surreal Expedition consists of eleven vibrant multimedia works exploring the molecular structures of hormones, with a sub-series of four paintings delving into the topic of psychedelic-assisted therapy and pain medicine. This series serves as a physical representation of a specific time marked by a debilitating and painful illness that profoundly affected my artistic practice.
