Artist Submission Tips

To help ensure a smooth review process, please follow these guidelines when submitting images for your Garage Galleries application.

Image File Naming

Before uploading your photos, please rename each file using the following format:

FirstName_LastName_1
or
BusinessName_1

Examples:

Jane_Smith_1.jpg
Jane_Smith_2.jpg
OakStreetStudio_1.jpg

Guidelines

  • Use either your personal name or your business/studio name.
  • Use underscores (_) instead of spaces.
  • Number images 1–5 in the order you want them reviewed.
  • All submitted images should follow the same naming format.

Files that do not follow this format may not be considered during the review process.

Photo Submission Tips

Show Your Best Work First

The first image is often the strongest impression. Upload the piece that best represents your work as Image #1.

Use Clear, Well-Lit Photos

Natural lighting or even lighting helps show accurate colors and details.

Avoid Busy Backgrounds

Simple backgrounds help the artwork stand out.

Include One Booth or Display Photo

If possible, include one image showing how your work is displayed at an event or market.

Make Sure Images Are in Focus

Blurry photos make it difficult for reviewers to evaluate your work.

Common Submission Mistakes to Avoid

Avoid these issues, which can make it difficult for reviewers to evaluate your work:

  • Photos taken too far away
  • Images with heavy filters or color distortion
  • Watermarks or text overlays on artwork photos
  • Collages or multiple pieces in one image
  • Screenshots instead of original photo files

Each uploaded image should clearly show one piece of artwork or your display setup.
